Pre-Construction Manager (Re-cladding) | £80,000 - £90,000 | Essex / East London | Main Contractor | Permanent
There is a certain type of person who thrives in pre-construction.
Somebody who can turn a blank canvas and a client brief into a well-considered, risk managed plan that everyone can get behind.
If that’s you, we need to be talking.
We are looking for a Pre-Construction Manager to join this leading main contractor, working specifically in their special works division on re-cladding projects. This is someone who can take the lead on design development, cost control, and coordination from tender through to delivery - and make sure every piece of drawn information tells the right story.
This isn’t just about managing drawings and deadlines.
It’s about managing people, too. You will be guiding and developing a team of Co-ordinators - helping them grow, sharpening their technical edge, and keeping standards high across every stage.
You will lead tender launches, steer consultant appointments, and make sure design information lands on time, within budget, and ready for construction. You’ll turn raw data into usable intelligence that keeps projects moving and risk low.
You will also have a seat at the table with Pre-Con and Production, helping shape buildable, value-engineered solutions that genuinely work - not just on paper, but on site.
It’s a senior, hands-on role that rewards curiosity, commercial thinking, and a real understanding of how design, cost, and delivery fit together.
What you’re going to need:
- Comprehensive experience in main contracting, ideally with exposure to partnership housing or mixed-use schemes and recladding.
- Recognised building qualifications and strong technical grounding
- A collaborative mindset and confidence managing consultants, coordinators, and internal teams
- Commercial acumen - able to weigh up risk, value, and buildability in real terms
- Working knowledge of planning, Building Regulations, and the emerging Building Safety Regulator process
Professional membership (MCIOB, MICE, or similar) would be great - but what really matters is your ability to lead, mentor, and deliver.
This contractor is a proud advocate for collaboration and community and it sits at the heart of everything they do. You will be joining a business that take partnership working seriously – with clients, consultants and colleagues alike.
If you’re ready to take ownership of pre-construction for projects that make a visible difference, this is the move to make.
